It was in the late 1970's that I first met George Trippon. I was in the process of starting the first fashion school with a partner to offer a complete shirt making curriculum. My partner just happened to know George and so he setup a meeting . He arrived , gave us some insite and helped us get an approval from the State of California.

During the certification he befriended me and asked if I would come over one evening to have diner with him and his partner. I accepted, and after diner he show me his fabulous fashion book collection. Unfortunately
he had no books on shirt making. I was already collecting shirt books wherever I could find them.

In my early meetings with George he stated that he was retiring. I asked him if
he would sell me his book collection, he agreed and I acquire a large fashion book collection.

George Trippon never stated that he was a shirt maker or ever gave you the impression that he had a mastery of shirt making. However, George was a master of Dressmaking, he loved womens clothes. He was a master at pattern making of womens clothes and an expert pattern grader.

George Trippon had a Fashion Design School in Hollywood and some of the most successfull designers in the fashion industry came out of his school. George Trippon taught students how to make money.

Besides being a very successfull TV celebrity in the seventies,
he taught me a lot about running a small business and taking womens designs and applying them in designing mens shirts.

I have included three video documentaries created by Shawn Quinlan who met George Trippon by accident and was inspired to do the videos.

My wife and I will miss the days at breakfast meetings talking about design and his past history in the fashion world.
